Autumn / Winter Collection
Winter is upon us; and with that comes the cold weather, the rain and the darker nights. Get yourself winter-riding ready with the new RST Autumn / Winter Collection. Below we have handpicked some of the key pieces from our range.
When it comes to riding in colder weather, selecting the right motorcycle gear is crucial for both comfort and safety. Winter-specific riding clothing, such as jackets, pants, and gloves, is designed to keep riders warm while still providing ample protection. Here are five key areas to consider when purchasing winter riding clothing.
WINTER MOTORCYCLE CLOTHING
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN LOOKING AT COLD WEATHER RIDING GEAR.
Style: Winter motorcycle clothing comes in various styles, catering to different riding preferences. Whether you're into road and urban riding or prefer touring and race-oriented gear, it's essential to choose a product that aligns with your style of riding and intended use.
Primary Construction: The primary construction of winter motorcycle clothing is pivotal in determining its quality and effectiveness. Materials like insulated textiles, thermal fabrics, and cold-resistant leathers are commonly used. We use proprietary materials such as MAXTEX and SinAqua for their insulation and waterproofing capabilities.
Secondary Construction: In addition to primary materials, secondary components like thermal liners and reinforced overlays for high-impact areas can significantly impact a garment's performance. These may also serve as additional insulation or design accents.
Insulation: Staying warm in cold weather is paramount for rider comfort, and insulation plays a crucial role. Various types of insulation, from traditional thermal liners to advanced technologies like heated elements, are available. Consider the insulation type, its effectiveness, and whether it complements the garment's overall design.
Water Resistance: Winter riding often involves encounters with rain or snow, making water resistance an important consideration. Look for clothing with waterproof membranes or coatings to keep you dry in inclement weather. Pay attention to features like sealed seams and waterproof zippers for enhanced protection.
Armour: A crucial safety element of any riding clothing, armour protects against blunt-force impacts. Many different types of armour are available, with varying levels of protection and proprietary technology. Consider the placement of the armour, whether it is removable, and whether it is included with the garment.
Ventilation: Keeping ventilated might seem odd in cold weather - however rider comfort is a key part of active safety when riding, and ventilation is one of the key factors to achieving this. Materials used in construction will impact airflow, but garments with additional ventilation and exhaust ports will improve comfort. Look for clothing with effective ventilation for maximum comfort.
